10th Annual Red Dress/Red Tie Reception More than 250 guests attended AtlantiCare’s 10th annual Red Dress/Red Tie Reception on February 9, 2017 at the Historic Smithville Inn in Smithville, which raised more than $20,000. Event proceeds benefited the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC) Heart Heroes program. The AtlantiCare Heart Heroes, an AtlantiCare Foundation-funded program, places automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the community on behalf of the Heart Institute at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. AEDs can restore a normal heart rhythm in victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The program began in 2002, spurred by a small group of dedicated AtlantiCare volunteers who were known as the “Heart Heroes.” Since its inception, the program has placed 230 AEDs in the community to increase awareness about the importance of prompt care for heart attack. The Heart Heroes program funds a portion of the AED cost. Community groups and/or organizations provide the remaining funds.
