HR Team Member Handbook 2025

Jury Duty / Court Appearance Jury Duty - Any regular full time or part time (24 hours/week) employee, on the active payroll, who is absent because of jury duty will be paid for jury duty provided proof of serving, on a day to day basis, is given to supervisor. Jury duty pay will be at the regular rate of pay for a maximum of 12 hours/day not to exceed their normal weekly pay. Such pay is not included as hours worked for the computation of overtime and other premium pay. Jury duty time will only be paid for an employee’s scheduled workday.

Employees should notify their manager immediately on any day the court releases them in four (4) hours or less. AtlantiCare reserves the right to have the employee report to work to supplement a partial jury duty day with work hours.

Court Appearance - Employees who are subpoenaed for AtlantiCare business or as a result of their employment are paid as authorized time off (ATO). This ATO time will be considered in the computation of overtime.

Military Leave Short Term Leave - Any regular employee while in attendance in the National Guard or Military Reserves will be granted a maximum leave of one (1) calendar month and will receive pay for time lost for a maximum of two (2) weeks. The pay will be the difference between the employee’s regular base pay and the Reserve training pay not to exceed two (2) working weeks (80 hours) in one calendar year. The employee must present their orders to the department director upon receipt and provide a pay stub in order that reimbursement takes place. Employees must report to work on the next regularly scheduled working day following their release from training duty. Long Term Leave - Military Leave of Absence (long term) will be granted on an unpaid basis to all regular employees. Temporary employees, in any classification, are not eligible provided that the temporary nature of their employment was clearly and mutually understood at the time of hire. A Military Leave of Absence (long term), which is allowed for purposes of fulfilling an active duty commitment, will be granted for a minimum of six (6) months to a maximum of five (5) years. Employees whose active service is involuntarily extended by the 29 government beyond five (5) years will be granted an extension of leave coinciding with duration of such mandated additional duty. It is the policy of AtlantiCare to comply with Federal Law pertaining to military leave. Please contact the Leave of Absence Unit for further information. See Policy #382, Military Leave.

Travel Reimbursement Employees are reimbursed for travel required by AtlantiCare in the course of their employment. Reimbursement is limited to the actual mileage incurred over and above mileage traveled to and from the employee’s home to their home base of employment. Travel from one property to another during your working day is reimbursed. Check with your supervisor or the Human Resources Department for the current reimbursement rate per mile. Reimbursement scheduled is available on the Starfish. See Policy #2868, Corporate Travel Policy.
