HR Team Member Handbook 2025

Sick Leave If an employee is absent because of illness or disability for three (3) consecutive work days or more, they must provide a doctor’s note (no diagnosis, please) upon returning to work indicating they are fit for duty to be paid sick pay. Employees who are sick on a regularly scheduled day off, vacation day or holiday/personal day will not be paid sick pay unless they subsequently request and are approved for a medical leave of absence. AtlantiCare reserves the right to have employees examined by the Occupational Medicine physician prior to their return to work due to illness or injury, and the Occupational Medicine physician may refuse permission to return if in their judgment the return would constitute a hazard to patients or other employees. Hol idays There are six established holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. When possible, the dates of holidays will be in accordance with the Federal holiday schedule. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be considered as the observed holiday. When it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be designated as the observed holiday. The nature of the 32 AtlantiCare’s operation makes it impossible for all employees to be off at the same time. Employees are to adhere to their department scheduling process for holidays. Employees who fail to report to work on the last scheduled work day before the paid holiday or the first scheduled work day after the official date of a paid holiday, or the holiday itself, if scheduled, will forfeit the holiday pay/time. Sick time only will be paid if the employee is sick and presents written documentation from a physician. Sick time is not considered for the calculation of overtime.

Holidays are not earned while on an approved leave of absence.
