HR Team Member Handbook 2025

Transitional/Modified Duty Program To promote job security, optimal recovery and minimize lost time due to work-related illness and injury, you may be assigned to a position with modified duties temporarily until you are able to resume your full duties. Failure to accept these "modified" duties may cause your Worker's Compensation payments to cease. Transitional/modified duty is temporary and may extend until an employee reaches maximum medical improvement from the employment injury/illness. See Policy ID#: 391, Transitional Duty Program for Workers’ Compensation Management. Exemption Status and Overtime Pay Except in the case of an unforeseeable emergent circumstance, it is the policy of AtlantiCare not to require overtime for any employee. In the event of an unforeseeable emergent circumstance, AtlantiCare will follow a pre-defined process for requiring overtime as mandated by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. A copy of this process can be obtained from your department director or Human Resources department. See Policy #392, Exemption Status and Overtime Pay. All non-exempt employees, as determined by the Fair Labor Standards Act, are eligible for overtime pay at the rate of one and one half (1 1/2) times their regular hourly rate for hours worked in excess of 40 hours per work week. All overtime must be approved in advance by the appropriate department director or supervisor. Paid meal breaks for employees hired prior to 9/1/97, are not considered worked time for the purposes of calculating overtime. Employees hired after 9/1/97 are not paid for duty free meal breaks longer than 20 minutes. See Policy #392, Exemption Status and Overtime Pay. Scheduled Call Due to the needs and nature of patient care, certain non-exempt, non-management employees are required to take scheduled call. Employees scheduled on call must be available by telephone or pager and be able to report to the hospital within one hour or within department specific guidelines.

Call duty may be a condition of employment in certain departments. See Policy #393, Scheduled Call.

Pay Notification All employees are paid by direct deposit, pay card, every other Thursday for the pay period ending the previous Saturday night. All employee pay statements are available on MyOwnRecords.
