Leader Expectation(s) : Leaders are expected to know how to access and use the system, as well as what is appropriate for legal review.

Leave of Absence (LOA)

Short Term Disability: Short-term disability benefits are considered when an employee is unable to work for more than 7-calendar days due to illness or injury. AtlantiCare is self-administered and self-insured. Any employee unable to work for more than 7 calendar days should be referred to the LOA office, LOA@atlanticare.org or (609) 677-7766. Light Duty and Accommodations Light duty is often recommended when an employee has been injured. AtlantiCare has a strong “recovery on the job” program for employees injured within the course and scope of their employment. When an employee is injured away from work, sometimes an accommodation is requested. These requests are handled by the LOA office. All requests for light duty or other accommodations should be referred to the LOA office for further disposition. Managers should never agree to a request for accommodation without specific guidance from the LOA office. Workers’ Compensation AtlantiCare employees who are injured within the course and scope of their employment should report the injury to their manager and then submit an electronic injury report via The Starfish, Tell Us, Incident Reporting, and Employee Injury Reporting Site. The Workers’ Compensation team will assist the employee with medical treatment and next steps. Leader Expectation(s): Leaders are expected to be familiar with the information above regarding LOA. They should be able to direct their team member to the appropriate contact for assistance (LOA@atlanticare.org or 609-677-7766). They can reach out to the LOA office directly with questions. Employees should not be contacted and/or working when they are on LOA. Even though an employee is on LOA, leaders must still update and approve their time in Kronos.
