AtlantiCare 403(b) or 401(k) Savings Plans by Empower AtlantiCare is here to support you as you save for a long, healthy and active retirement. Whether you are beginning your first job, at the midpoint of your career or approaching retirement, your retirement savings plan is an essential part of your future financial wellness. AtlantiCare ofers employer-sponsored retirement savings plans for employees to defer a portion of their salary into individual retirement accounts, with contributions growing on a tax-deferred basis. Plans ofer a choice between pre-tax and Roth contributions and employer matching contributions. New hires are automatically enrolled at a 2% contribution rate in the 403(b)/401(k) plan, unless you opt out within 60 days of your hire date. Once your first paycheck is processed, you can log in to your account at www.EmpowerMyRetirement.com to opt out or adjust your contribution rate at any time. You can also make changes by calling Empower Customer Service at 1-866-467-7756 . Pre-Tax and Roth Contribution Options Traditional 403(b) and 401(k) pre-tax contributions ofer an upfront tax advantage. These contributions are made before taxes, which can lower your taxable income in the year you contribute. Your money then grows tax-deferred, meaning you won’t pay taxes on earnings until you withdraw the funds, typically in retirement. At that time, withdrawals are taxed as regular income. AtlantiCare also ofers a Roth contribution option for your 403(b) or 401(k) plan. Roth contributions are paid with after-tax dollars, so there’s no immediate tax benefit. However, your contributions and earnings can grow tax-free, and you can withdraw them tax- and penalty-free after age 59½ and once the account has been open for at least five years. Employer Match AtlantiCare matches 25% of your contribution on the first 4% of your eligible pay that you defer each pay period. Your contributions are always 100% vested. Once you have completed three years of service in which you worked at least 500 hours, you’ll also be fully vested in the match, which means that if you leave employment with AtlantiCare, you can take both your contributions and the match dollars. Once you reach 15 or more years of service, AtlantiCare increases the match to 50% on the first 4% of your eligible pay that you defer, efective January 1 of the following Plan Year. Roth contributions receive the same company match as pre-tax contributions—up to the current plan maximum. Please note that all employer contributions are made on a pre-tax basis, regardless of how your contributions are designated. Questions?
