At the Center of the National Healthcare Conversation In July, AtlantiCare welcomed Dr. Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for a discussion about the impact of federal healthcare policy on local communities. One of the first integrated health systems he visited since his appointment, Dr. Oz’s visit to Atlantic City highlighted the innovative ways AtlantiCare is navigating the realities of federal policy while delivering exceptional care locally. Dr. Oz’s toured AtlantiCare’s medical facilities, including our Federally Qualified Health Center, and the future site of the medical school, showcasing the region’s growing role as a hub for healthcare and education. Following the tour, Dr. Oz joined Michael Charlton and other leaders from healthcare, government, education and tech sectors for an intimate roundtable discussion. The conversation tackled pressing issues like healthcare data infrastructure, Medicare and Medicaid policy and access to care. Dr. Oz praised AtlantiCare’s community-driven vision and approach to care, noting our health system serves as a model for others nationwide. His visit was brief, but the conversations it sparked will continue to influence the future of healthcare delivery and policy for years to come.
