Short-TermDisability Benefits Short-TermDisability Benefits-AtlantiCare Private Plan (REPLACES NEW JERSEY STATE DISABILITY BENEFITS)

New Jersey is one of only six states to have a statutory temporary disability program. This program is often called short-term disability benefits (STDB) or temporary disability insurance (TDI). AtlantiCare self-administers an approved private disability plan for its eligible teammembers. AtlantiCare’s plan replaces the State’s plan for STDB or TDI. This plan provides protection against wage loss due to short-term, non-work-related disabilities. If you are eligible, bene ts are calculated using a statutory formula equal to the State plan. The Leave of Absence Unit will assist you with ling a claim for STDB. Teammembers who have been disabled from work by a provider for more than seven calendar days must submit an electronic Leave of Absence Request on The Star sh. Teammembers may also email LOA@atlanticare.org or call 609-677-7766 for assistance. Long-TermDisability Benefits Long-Term Disability (LTD) protects full-time teammembers (who have been actively employed for at least one year) from lost earnings when illness or injury causes total disability. AtlantiCare teammembers are automatically enrolled in this benefit at no cost after 1 year of full-time service. Teammembers can elect higher coverage with an optional upgrade. LTD begins after you have been disabled for six months. • Included Benefit: You will be paid 50% of your monthly earnings up to a maximum of $2,500 per month >OR< • Optional Upgrade: You can elect the higher option of 66 2/3% of your monthly earnings up to $5,000. You will pay the cost of this higher coverage. If you did not enroll into the optional upgraded coverage at your one-year date of eligibility, Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is required to elect coverage. For the 2025 Open Enrollment period only, AtlantiCare was able to secure a ‘Guaranteed Issue’ for Supplemental LTD which means no EOI is necessary.

Evidence of Insurability

You can retrieve the Statement of Health / Evidence of Insurability Form through the Forms & Plan Documents tile on myADP.com . You will have 60 days to complete and submit the document. Your additional coverage amount must be approved by the carrier prior to taking e ect. You will not see a payroll deduction for the additional amount until coverage is approved.
