AtlantiCare Leader Handbook
Incident Reporting An incident is an unusual occurrence in or around AtlantiCare property. Everyone is responsible for reporting safety information. Examples of incidents reported through RLDatix (formerly Quantros): Patient and visitor injuries, car accidents, equipment malfunctions, theft and security issues, threatening behavior, lost or damaged property, facilities issues, etc. Exception: Employee injuries are reported through The Starfish by clicking the following links under “Tell Us” on the upper right side of The Starfish page: “Incident Reporting,”“Employee Injury Reporting Site.” Leader Expectation(s): Leaders are expected to know how to report incidents and make sure their staff know as well. If assistance is needed with password, log-in, or system issues, please call the help desk at (609) 569-7070 or 3-7070 Employment Law Human Resources departments exist to keep employers compliant with Employment Law. Laws vary from acceptable interview questions to FLSA status to how overtime is calculated to Affirmative Action reporting to disciplinary actions. HR’s primary job is to be knowledgeable about these laws, create policies, and make recommendations on how to best follow them to keep the employer protected from lawsuits. Leader Expectation(s): Leaders are expected to have a basic understanding of Employment Law and how it affects their day to day work within the organization. Leaders are expected to have a good relationship, heed the advice of their Employee Relations partner when given guidance on employment topics, and reach out often whenever they have a question. Leaders should be familiar with key employment policies and know where to find them. You can visit the Policies site here. (Starfish > About AtlantiCare > Policies & Procedures). Contracts & NTracts NTracts is our contracts administration system. If you need access, please reach out to the current contracts administrator in Legal. This is the system you will use in order to have a contract approved. When receiving access to this system the contracts administrator can give you detailed instructions on how to properly use the system and answer any questions you have. Leader Expectation(s): Leaders are expected to know how to access and use the system, as well as what is appropriate for legal review. Leave of Absence (LOA) Short Term Disability Short-term disability benefits are considered when an employee is unable to work for more than 7-calendar days due to illness or injury. AtlantiCare is self-administered and self-insured. Any employee unable to work for more than 7-calendar days should be referred to the LOA office, LOA@atlanticare.org or (609) 677-7766. Light Duty and Accommodations Light duty is often recommended when an employee has been injured. AtlantiCare has a strong “recovery on the job” program for employees injured within the course and scope of their employment. When an employee is injured away from work, sometimes an accommodation is requested. These requests are handled by the LOA office. All requests for light duty or other accommodations should be referred to the LOA office for further disposition. Managers should never agree to a request for accommodation without specific guidance from the LOA office. Workers’ Compensation AtlantiCare employees who are injured within the course and scope of their employment should report the injury to their manager and then submit an electronic injury report via The Starfish, Tell Us, Incident Reporting, and Employee Injury Reporting Site. The Workers’ Compensation team will assist the employee with medical treatment and next steps.
