2024 Internships & Apprenticeships

2024 Internships A total of 67 students participated in our internship programs, including 32 in direct internships and 35 through Stockton Co Op’s Live, Work, Learn initiative. We were also awarded the NJ Career Accelerator Internship Grant in March 2025, further strengthening our investment in emerging talent. EMS Intern Program With over 89 applicants, this program launches in early June to introduce 16–18-year-olds to healthcare careers. Additionally, we are actively developing an EMT school to further expand training opportunities. Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Our Medical Assistant Apprenticeship continues to thrive, with 32 graduates in 2024 achieving an impressive 94% certification pass rate. With 57 MAs enrolled to date and upcoming cohorts in Summer 2025 and Winter 2026, we are preparing highly skilled medical professionals for the future. Medical Explorers Program Designed to spark interest in healthcare careers, this program engages 25–30 students each month in hands-on experiences across various medical fields, inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

2024 Nursing Programs

PCT-A & ENA Apprenticeships With 50 PCT-As onboarded and an expected graduation in December 2025, this program is already making an impact by reducing turnover from 17.07% to 2.12% in Q1 2025.

Additionally, through our partnership with ENA, we launched New Jersey’s first ENA Nurse Residency Program, with 29 nurse residents completing their cohorts in June and October 2025.

Vizient Nurse Residency Program With 95 new graduate nurses enrolled in 2024, this program has achieved an impressive 92% retention rate at the one-year mark. The first cohort graduated in February 2025, showcasing five evidence-based practice projects. Looking ahead, we plan to apply for ANCC PTAP accreditation in June 2025. Preceptor Development Program We have trained and certified 356 nurses and 138 techs as official preceptors, reinforcing a strong culture of mentorship and professional growth.

DNP Rutgers Cohort Eight Nurse Leaders are set to graduate in May 2025, further strengthening leadership excellence within AtlantiCare.

Clinical Simulation Program s With the addition of VR simulation and high-fidelity training equipment, our simulation programs have expanded significantly. In 2024, we hosted 333 sessions, enhancing confidence, skill application, and overall clinical preparedness.

Unit-Based Orientation From April 2024 to March 2025, we successfully onboarded approximately 220 nurses and 200 techs, ensuring seamless integration into our clinical units and fostering high-quality patient care. Workforce Development 2024 High School Hiring Blitz This initiative successfully hired 49 students from AtlantiCare’s Teen Centers into key healthcare support roles, including PCT, Patient Access, Dietary, and Teacher Assistant positions. By providing early career opportunities, we are building the next generation of healthcare professionals. AtlantiCare/Cheyney University Nursing & Respiratory Program Through strategic academic partnerships, we celebrated the graduation of three Respiratory Therapists from the Thomas Jefferson Program and three Nurses from Stockton University’s Accelerated Nursing Program. These graduates represent the future of high-quality patient care. Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City Healthcare Cohort Our first-ever healthcare cohort launched with 10 students, offering career development, hands-on healthcare exposure, CPR certifications, and specialized training. This 12-week program equips young minds with the skills and knowledge to explore careers in healthcare.

ABOUT LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

AtlantiCare’s Learning and Development team is part of the Human Resources Department. They are responsible for ensuring the right team members are in the right positions, while also overseeing how team members are evaluated and managed by their leaders. One of the core responsibilities of the Learning and Development team is to help team members grow within the organization by mapping out career paths and training programs. Their expertise has helped build AtlantiCare YOUniversity and the classes available to our teams. Learning and Development at AtlantiCare consists of a team of specialists who can assist you on your career journey.

MEET THE TEAM

Michelle Keck began as a care manager at AtlantiCare Behavioral Health, later transitioning to Corporate Education as the Education Coordinator. With a background in English and Psychology, she holds a Master’s in Instructional Technology and now serves as the Director of Learning and Development in the Human Resources department. Dana Alston Manager of Learning & Development

Dana Alston joined AtlantiCare in May 2021, and quickly grew from a supporting position on the Nurse Recruitment team to a Talent Acquisition Partner. In her current role as a Talent Development Consultant, Dana focuses on fostering workforce growth and development, drawing on her 9 years of retail leadership experience and education from Rutgers University and Penn State University.

Desiree Ginsburg Training Facilitator

Desiree Ginsburg is a results-driven HR professional with 15+ years of diverse recruitment experience in corporate settings. Specializing in direct sourcing, candidate engagement, and leadership coaching, Desiree has a proven track record in elevating store performance and operational excellence, blending expertise from roles in luxury retail and healthcare. In her current role as Training Facilitator, Desiree coordinates, provides and presents quality educational programs.

Chloe Mayes Instructional Designer

Chloe Mayes is an experienced instructional designer specializing in eLearning and curriculum development. With a background in education and a passion for helping others succeed, Chloe joined AtlantiCare in 2023 to focus on learner-centric solutions tailored to the diverse needs of the organization. She holds a Master of Education in Education Technology and Instructional Design, further enhancing her ability to create impactful learning experiences that drive growth and innovation.

Amanda Reardon Learning & Development Partner

Amanda Reardon joined AtlantiCare in January 2023, swiftly transitioning from Talent Acquisition Partner to Learning & Development Partner. With a passion for supporting and developing others, she focuses on workforce development and growth in her current role. Amanda holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management and is currently enrolled at LSU, pursuing a master's degree in Leadership & HR Development with a concentration in Workforce Development.

Yesenia Nunez Learning & Development Administrator

Yesenia Nunez has been with AtlantiCare for 18 years and takes great pride in her role as a Learning and Development Administrator within Learning & Development team. Supporting customers and making a positive impact through her work is truly fulfilling for her. She is currently advancing her education by pursuing a bachelor's degree at Thomas Edison State University, demonstrating her commitment to both personal and professional growth.

Medical Assistant Apprentice Program

No experience required to get a jumpstart on a career in the rapidly growing medical field! Medical Assistants (MAs) are essential team members in the healthcare setting. MAs make a lasting impact on patient experience and quality by performing a variety of direct patient care tasks, including: Collecting patient history & documents Taking vital signs Screenings, such as strep, finger stick glucose, EKGs & more Updating electronic health records Assisting the provider Administering medications

Earn While You Learn! AtlantiCare covers the cost of the training, certification and salary pay for apprentices’ clinical rotations.

MA apprentice students are paid $17.50 hr. for onsite time (about 20 hours/week) during the program.

Upon graduation and certification, rate goes up to $20.00 hr full-time with benefits.

Clinical Advancement Program (CAP)- Nursing The Clinical Advancement Program (CAP), formerly known as the Nurse Ladder Program, is a professional development pathway that recognizes and rewards nurses for their clinical expertise, leadership, and commitment to quality care. CAP supports career growth through defined levels of advancement based on experience, education, and contributions to practice improvement.

Radiologic Technologist Apprentice Program

Applicants must complete pre-requisites including admission/acceptance to an accredited Radiologic Technology or Radiography Program prior to applying for consideration. Radiologic Technologists perform Medical Imaging exams utilizing X-ray technology. Completing an accredited Radiologic Technology or Radiography Program provides a pathway to become board certified in Radiologic Technology.

Nurses are welcome to join the Emergency Nurse Residency Program (ENRP) Lecture Series to deepen their knowledge on a wide range of clinical topics. | NUR 106 - ENRP Lecture Series This course is designed specifically for Patient Care Technicians responsible for the safe transport of patients on telemetry monitoring. | NUR 107 - Telemetry Transport Tech Class This practical course is designed to develop and refine the skills necessary for safe and effective peripheral IV insertion and phlebotomy with both the butterfly and straight needle. | NUR 108 - Venipuncture / Phlebotomy & IV Insertion

CLINICAL ESSENTIAL WORK REQUIREMENTS The Life Support Training Center is an American Heart Association Certified Training Center offering ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Heartsaver courses. We offer both LIVE classroom initial certification and re-certification as well as online Heartcode courses through HealthStream. BLS (Basic Life Support): Training focused on providing fundamental life-saving skills, including CPR, AED use, and relieving choking for adults, children, and infants. It is designed for healthcare professionals and first responders. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): An advanced course for healthcare providers that covers the management of cardiac arrest, stroke, and other life-threatening emergencies. It includes pharmacology, airway management, and team-based resuscitation skills. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Specialized training for healthcare professionals who care for critically ill or injured children. It covers pediatric assessment, effective resuscitation, and the management of respiratory and cardiac emergencies. CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): A training program focused on crisis prevention and intervention. It teaches de-escalation techniques, non-violent physical intervention strategies, and how to safely manage disruptive or aggressive behavior.

Description: The AtlantiCare Leadership Program is designed for highly engaged leaders and staff who have demonstrated a desire and ability to be considered for future leadership roles. Participants are selected. The program can last up to three years. Participants are provided with individual paths for years one, two, and three and placed into appropriate leadership development programs (i.e. Pathways to Leadership, Mentorship Program, LEAN Green Belt Training, etc.) during each year. Participants are expected to work on a Professional Growth Plan with a Career Sponsor. Who Should Attend? Model team members who exhibit a high inclination for leadership. How to Sign Up : Interested team members should talk with their leaders about recommending them for the Leadership Program by submitting information to the Learning & Development team. Description: The Pathways program is designed for front line team members with a high potential for taking on a leadership role. This one-year program focuses on the core knowledge and behaviors necessary to be a successful leader. Participants also work on a White Belt Project or Business Case Proposal to help drive transformation and innovation. The participant will be required to attend all sessions during the program year. The Community Enrichment Society of AtlantiCare (also known as “CES”) is an exciting networking opportunity for the area’s young professionals and entrepreneurs who would like to build relationships, develop professionally, enrich the community through philanthropy and volunteerism, and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Target Demographic: The demographic to make-up CES would be: 25 years to 50 years old

Membership: AtlantiCare Employees: • $50.00 membership fee that our employees would have to pay when they sign up through cash/check/ payroll deduction The membership fee would be used for the following events: • 2 in person events- one event would be in the summer and the second event would be in December as a holiday party. (All in person events will have a cash bar) • 4 webinar/panel discussions throughout the year. • Volunteer events. • 1 “Day in the Life” experience: A Day in Life experience is where different departments allow a small group to come into their workspace for a couple of hours to see what they do on a daily basis.
